University of Zambia and LinkNet sign Memorandum of Understanding

LinkNet and The University of Zambia Council (UNZA) started a five year cooperation for the purpose of the development of a collaborative research and training program which will investigate issues of ICT and engineering in rural areas, technology deployments and maintenance, and their interactions in support of aims and objectives of both UNZA and LinkNet., for co-operation in research to further proof-of-reproduction and proof-of production of LinkNet sites, for creation of broad awareness on the needs on deployment of Internet and other technology in rural Zambia and sub-Saharan Africa, to strive for development, publication and exchange for scientific and education literature, to develop a field research station at LinkNet's Center of Experience on rural ICT development and training at Ubuntu Campus, Macha Mission, to develop research projects, and support publications, and conferences, seminars and symposium to cater for better understanding of the realities in rural Zambia and sub-Saharan Africa, and to develop a collaborative training program to accelerate ICT capacity building in rural Zambia.

During today's signing ceremony at UNZA's Department of Engineering in Lusaka, being witnessed by all Head of Departments and LinkNet's Secretary of the Board, Dean Dr. Charles K. Wamukwamba referred to the uniqueness of this cooperation of two Zambian entities with focus on rural development.
